Systeme.io Review 2026: Honest Verdict, Limits and Complaints

FunnelTier editorial · 14 min read · Updated October 7, 2026
Studio still life of a manila paper tag stamped $0 with fine print under a brass magnifying glass, a pencil and a blue paper clip, beside the headline Is Systeme.io really free?

Our Systeme.io review for 2026 in one line: it’s legit, and it’s the best-value all-in-one for solo creators with fewer than about 10,000 contacts. It’s the wrong pick for design-heavy brands, for anyone who needs a refund window, and for anyone who can’t live with a platform that pauses email or blocks accounts on its own judgement. Plans run Free ($0, 2,000 contacts, no card), Startup $17, Webinar $47 and Unlimited $97 a month, with 2 months free on annual billing, but paid plans are non-refundable and a paid account that stays over its limits for 3 days is upgraded automatically. New this year is an official MCP server that works even on the Free plan. We checked everything below on 7 October 2026.

Systeme.io review at a glance: pros and cons

Short version: Systeme.io is cheap and covers most of what a solo seller needs, though the pages look a little plain. The price you pay for that is living by the vendor’s rules on email, limits and refunds.

It’s a French company, founded by Aurélien Amacker in 2018, that claims “over 500,000 entrepreneurs” as users. One account covers funnels, email, courses, a blog, checkout, an affiliate program for your own products, and automated webinars from the Webinar plan up.

What’s good

Free plan, no card, no expiry Unlimited emails on every plan 0% transaction fees Affiliate program even on Free MCP server on Free

What’s not

Paid plans are non-refundable Tight caps on funnels and automations Email and account blocks at the vendor's discretion Design ceiling No documented page or funnel export

Best for: beginners and solo course, coaching or digital-product sellers with a list under about 10,000 who want one cheap bill.

Skip it if: you need a refund window before committing, pixel-level control over design, or a platform that will never pause your sending in the middle of a launch.

How much does Systeme.io cost in 2026?

Four plans, priced mainly by contact count. Systeme.io’s pricing page, checked 7 October 2026, lists Free at $0, Startup at $17 a month, Webinar at $47 and Unlimited at $97. Annual billing gives “2 months free”. The page doesn’t show yearly totals, so the annual column is our own arithmetic.

PlanMonthlyAnnual (our maths)ContactsSales funnels (plan table)Courses (plan table)
Free$0$02,00031
Startup$17about $1705,000105
Webinar$47about $47010,0005020
Unlimited$97about $970UnlimitedUnlimitedUnlimited

Every plan, Free included, gets unlimited emailing, unlimited file storage, unlimited students, 0% transaction fees, affiliate program management and 24/7 email support. If a Systeme.io review quotes Startup at $27, it’s out of date: third-party reviews date the cut to $17 to May 2025.

The Free plan limits that actually bite

Contacts get the headlines, but on Free you hit other caps first. Per Systeme.io’s plan table: 3 sales funnels, 15 funnel steps, 1 automation rule, 1 tag, 1 workflow, 1 email campaign, 1 course, 1 coupon, 1 upsell or order bump, 1 A/B test and 1 custom domain.

One automation rule and one tag is the real wall: you can tag a subscriber and start a sequence, and that’s about it. Startup lifts those to 10 funnels, 50 steps, 10 rules, 10 tags, 5 workflows and 5 courses.

There’s a revenue ceiling too. Free accounts are limited to $10,000 in lifetime sales. Hit it and you get an email and 3 days to upgrade, after which your payment pages stop accepting new sales.

! Systeme.io's pricing page contradicts itself. Its FAQ gives Startup "unlimited funnels" and Webinar "unlimited everything"; the plan table says 10 and 50 funnels. Plan around the lower numbers. Our full plan-by-plan limits table has every row.

The fine print: no refunds, and a 3-day auto-upgrade

Three clauses in Systeme.io’s terms and conditions matter more than any feature:

  • No refunds. Article 3: “Please note that our subscription plans are not refundable.” Two of the best-ranking independent reviews promise a 30-day refund anyway. The terms don’t.
  • Automatic upgrades. If a paid account goes over its limits and you don’t cut usage within 3 days, “your subscription will be automatically upgraded to the appropriate plan” and billed at the new price (Article 5).
  • Prices can change at any time, though an order keeps the price you paid.

The help centre spells out the clock. Go over a limit and you get three warning emails, one a day, plus a dashboard alert. On day 4 the restriction starts: opt-ins and payments stop working, and newsletters and campaigns pause. Paid plans are also upgraded to the next tier automatically. Getting back down means removing the excess, then asking support.

Hand-drawn row of four calendar pages showing Systeme.io's over-limit process: days 1 to 3 each bring a warning email and a dashboard alert, and on day 4 a padlock marks the restriction, when opt-ins and payments stop and campaigns pause. A branch shows paid plans being auto-upgraded and billed. A sticky note adds that Free accounts have a $10,000 lifetime sales cap, with 3 days to upgrade before checkouts stop.
Go over a plan limit and Systeme.io sends three daily warnings, restricts opt-ins, payments and campaigns on day 4, and moves paid plans up a tier; Free accounts also stop selling at $10,000 in lifetime sales unless they upgrade within 3 days.

So treat Free as your trial. It never expires, so build the whole funnel there and pay only once a cap blocks you. Cancel a paid plan later and your data stays accessible on Free, as long as you’re within 2,000 contacts.

What’s new in 2026: the official Systeme.io MCP server

This is the 2026 change that no other Systeme.io review we checked mentions. Systeme.io added an official MCP server this year. MCP is a standard that lets an AI assistant work inside another app. Systeme.io’s pitch: “Connect your favorite AI tool to systeme.io and let it create, update, and find what you need, right from the chat.” It names ChatGPT and Claude.

It’s “included, no extra cost” on every plan, Free included. It can reach contacts, tags, newsletters, campaigns, funnels, products, coupons, automation rules, bookings, courses and SMS templates. You set each tool to “Always allow”, “Needs approval” or “Blocked”, and it asks before sensitive actions.

The limits are real, and Systeme.io is upfront about them:

  • It can’t edit funnels or funnel steps, and it can’t delete funnels.
  • Automation rules can be created and listed, but not edited or deleted. Systeme.io says that “will be added soon”.
  • There’s no OAuth yet. The help centre calls it “an initial release implementation”. You connect with a key from Settings → MCP & API keys: up to 2 keys, each valid for a maximum of 90 days.
  • Nothing suggests it lifts plan caps, so assume your plan’s limits still apply.

In practice it’s useful for list admin and quick builds, like tagging a segment or setting up a coupon from a chat window. It is not a page designer. For contrast, ClickFunnels’ MCP server came out of beta on 18 September 2026 with OAuth sign-in (our ClickFunnels review has the details), but ClickFunnels starts at $97 a month.

Systeme.io features that matter, and where they stop

Funnel builder and design

Systeme.io’s builder gets a sales page, an opt-in page and a checkout live, but it’s where reviewers grumble most. A Capterra reviewer called it “more limited in scope and often a bit clunky” (May 2025), and “clunky, outdated interface” turns up in Trustpilot one-star reviews this year. If your brand lives on custom design, you’ll hit the ceiling fast.

Per the plan table, funnel steps run 15 / 50 / 300 / unlimited and A/B tests 1 / 10 / 50 / unlimited from Free to Unlimited.

Email marketing

Unlimited emailing on every plan is the best deal in the product. The trade-off is that Systeme.io polices sending hard, and a new account will run into at least the first of these checks:

  • On a new account, your first email goes to 100 contacts. Then “sending is temporarily interrupted to analyze the initial statistics”, which takes “a few minutes to six hours”.
  • After you import contacts, sending pauses while Systeme.io checks where the list came from and how clean it is.
  • An email with words that may be considered spam can be put on hold.
  • A very large newsletter batch triggers a short automatic verification.

Imports must be contacts with “explicit consent”, and Systeme.io recommends a 7 to 14 day warm-up for lists over 5,000. Its deliverability guide also publishes risk bands. Low risk means an open rate over 20%, spam reports under 0.25% and bounces under 0.7%. High risk means opens under 10%, spam reports of 0.4% to 1% and bounces of 1.8% to 5%.

Hand-drawn mail tray and lowered gate explaining Systeme.io email pauses: the first 100 emails go out, then sending pauses for minutes to 6 hours; sending also pauses after a contact import, and spam-like words get an email held. A gauge shows the vendor's risk bands: low risk is opens over 20%, spam under 0.25% and bounces under 0.7%; high risk is opens under 10% and bounces of 1.8 to 5%.
New Systeme.io accounts send to 100 contacts and then pause for minutes to six hours; imports and spam-like wording also hold sending, and the vendor's own risk bands show what a healthy list looks like.

Courses, payments and the affiliate program

Every plan now lists “unlimited students”; the “500 students on Free” line in older reviews no longer appears on the pricing page. The cap that matters is courses: 1 / 5 / 20 / unlimited per the plan table.

Systeme.io takes 0% of your sales; your processor’s fees still apply. Gateways include Stripe, PayPal, Apple Pay, Razorpay, Flutterwave, Mercado Pago, Xendit, Mollie and GoCardless. You can run your own affiliate program on every plan, Free included.

Team, sub-accounts and API

You can invite an Assistant or an Administrator. Admins see revenue, contacts, transactions, payment settings, API keys and webhooks; only the owner controls the subscription, gateways, custom domains and affiliate payouts. Seat limits per plan aren’t stated. Sub-accounts are unlimited “even with a free plan”, and API keys sit in Settings next to the MCP keys.

Systeme.io complaints: what users actually report

4.9 /5 Trustpilot · 8,616 reviews · 2% one-star
4.8 /5 Capterra · 2,130 reviews
≈4.8 /5 G2 · about 750 reviews

A 2% one-star share sounds tiny. On 8,616 reviews it’s still around 170 people, and Systeme.io replies to 97% of its negative reviews. We read the 20 most recent one-star reviews on Trustpilot (December 2025 to October 2026), leaving out two from an ex-employee about an HR dispute. The same themes come up on forums. What surprised us is how many of them trace back to a written policy. None of the complaint roundups we read point that out, and it matters, because you can plan around a policy.

“My account was blocked without warning”

Reviewers report accounts blocked without notice in March, April and May 2026, and affiliate accounts locked or terminated in April and May. The terms allow it. Article 8 lets Systeme.io block access “in an urgent or extreme case” where your use “continuously impacts other users negatively”. Article 11 says prohibited content means access is “revoked without notice”. The deliverability guide adds that it can “suspend the email function as well as block the accounts of its users” for anything that harms the service.

To lower the risk: never import bought or scraped addresses, warm up big lists, and keep bounce and spam rates in the low-risk band above. If bounces reach 2% or spam reports 0.2%, the vendor says to contact support.

“My emails aren’t sending”

One reviewer had sending blocked after a CSV upload (January 2026); another hit a sender-email change that needed extra documents (June 2026). That’s the checks above doing their job, at a bad moment. Never schedule a launch email for the hours after your first import or first send.

“Migration is taking forever”

Free migration comes only with the Unlimited plan ($97 a month) or any annual plan. It covers contacts, pages, courses, emails and automations from platforms such as ClickFunnels, Kajabi and Teachable, all moved by hand. The help centre says a migration takes 17 days on average, depending on demand; the marketing page is more optimistic, with 2 to 5 business days for a simple move and 1 to 2 weeks for a larger one. Users report worse: 7 to 8 weeks on Trustpilot (April 2026), and one Capterra reviewer still waiting “9 months later” (September 2025). Keep your old platform paid until the move is checked.

“I was charged more, and they won’t refund”

There are one-star reviews about a refused refund (August 2026) and a charge after cancelling (March 2026). Both run into the terms: plans are not refundable, and over-limit paid accounts upgrade themselves after 3 days. Read every warning email, and remember that a downgrade goes through support.

“The builder is clunky, and I can’t leave”

Builder bugs left open for weeks are a recurring one-star theme: forms, upsell buttons and pages not rendering (March and September 2026).

Leaving is the bigger worry. You can export contacts from CRM → Contacts → More actions → Export; the CSV is emailed to you and is “available for download for only 3 days”. Transactions export as CSV too. We found no documented export for funnels, pages or courses, so plan to rebuild those elsewhere.

Hand-drawn open moving box holding two ticked folders, Contacts CSV, with a tag reading link lasts 3 days, and Transactions CSV. Outside the box sit funnels, pages and courses with question marks, bracketed as no documented export.
Leaving Systeme.io, you can export contacts (the download link lasts 3 days) and transactions as CSV files; we found no documented export for funnels, pages or courses.

What people praise

Support speed is the most common praise on Trustpilot, with several agents named in September 2026 reviews. Capterra users score customer service 4.8 and ease of use 4.6. And migration gets praise when it works: one reviewer said a move that “would have taken me a year” was done in two months.

Is Systeme.io legit, safe, or a scam?

Systeme.io is legit: a real company running since 2018, rated 4.9 from 8,616 Trustpilot reviews and 4.8 from 2,130 on Capterra.

If you searched “Systeme.io review scam”, the worry comes from three things: blocked accounts, non-refundable charges and automatic upgrades. All three are written into the terms, which makes them risks you can manage. None of it is fraud.

It’s safe enough for payments. Money moves through the gateway you connect, such as Stripe or PayPal, and Systeme.io takes 0% on top. The real safety habit is about data: export your contacts every month or so, because a CSV is the only documented way to take your list with you.

Who should use Systeme.io, and who should skip it?

Use Systeme.io if you are:

  • A beginner who wants to sell something without putting a card down.
  • A solo course, coaching or digital-product seller with fewer than about 10,000 contacts.
  • An affiliate marketer who needs pages and unlimited email on one cheap bill.
  • Someone who’d rather pay $17 or $47 than $97 a month.

Skip it if you:

  • Need a refund window before you commit money.
  • Care about pixel-level design.
  • Run a team that needs defined seats.
  • Need many funnels on a small budget (Startup’s table says 10).
  • Can’t survive an email pause mid-launch without a backup sender.

When you outgrow Systeme.io: is ClickFunnels the next step?

Sometimes, and less often than people assume. Systeme.io Unlimited and ClickFunnels Launch both cost $97 a month, and on raw capacity Systeme.io wins.

Systeme.io Unlimited$97/mo, about $970/yr ClickFunnels Launch$97/mo, or $81/mo annual
Contacts No cap 10,000
Email sends Unlimited 50,000 a month
Courses Unlimited 3
Refunds None on paid plans 30-day money-back guarantee
Team Assistant and Admin roles, seats not stated 2 team members, 1 workspace

So if you keep hitting Startup or Webinar caps, the cheaper fix is usually Systeme.io Unlimited rather than a new platform. ClickFunnels makes sense when one of these is true:

  • You need a refund window. ClickFunnels gives a 14-day free trial through our link (card required), then a 30-day money-back guarantee. See how the ClickFunnels trial and refund window work.
  • You need a team. Its plans run from 2 to 20 team members and 1 to 20 workspaces.
  • You need webhooks and the full API. Those start on Scale at $197 a month ($164 on annual).
  • You want unlimited funnels on every plan, plus AI funnel building and an MCP server with OAuth.

ClickFunnels isn’t automatically better. It caps email sends, we found no graded quizzes in its courses, and it costs at least $97 a month from day one. See every ClickFunnels plan and price and our ClickFunnels vs Systeme.io comparison before you move.

Hand-drawn signpost with four arms: Free at $0 for under 2,000 contacts; Startup $17 or Webinar $47 when a cap blocks you; Unlimited at $97 for over 10,000 contacts; and ClickFunnels from $97 for a refund window or team seats, with the full API from $197. A plaque notes annual billing gives 2 months free.
Stay on Free under 2,000 contacts, step up to Startup or Webinar when a cap blocks you, take Unlimited past 10,000 contacts, and look at ClickFunnels (from $97, full API from $197) only for a refund window or team seats.

Frequently asked questions

Is Systeme.io legit or a scam?

Legit. It's a French company founded in 2018, rated 4.9 from 8,616 Trustpilot reviews. The "scam" complaints come from account blocks, non-refundable charges and auto-upgrades, all written into its terms. It takes 0% of your sales.

Is Systeme.io really free? What's the catch?

Systeme.io's Free plan never expires and needs no card. The catch is the caps: 2,000 contacts, and per the plan table 3 funnels, 1 automation rule, 1 tag and 1 course. Free accounts also stop taking sales after $10,000 in lifetime revenue unless you upgrade within 3 days.

Does Systeme.io offer refunds?

No. Article 3 of the terms says "our subscription plans are not refundable." Reviews that promise a 30-day money-back guarantee are wrong. Use the Free plan as your trial instead.

Why was my Systeme.io account blocked or restricted?

A restriction usually means you went over a plan limit: after three daily warnings, opt-ins, payments and campaigns stop on day 4. Blocks follow the terms on prohibited content and on behaviour that hurts deliverability, such as importing bought lists.

Why aren't my Systeme.io emails sending?

New accounts send to 100 contacts first, then pause for a few minutes to six hours while Systeme.io checks the stats. Sending also pauses after a contact import, for spam-like wording, and for very large batches.

Can I export my data and leave Systeme.io?

You can export contacts and transactions as CSV files. The contacts file is emailed to you and can be downloaded for only 3 days. We found no documented export for funnels, pages or courses.

Does Systeme.io have an MCP server, and is it free?

Yes. The official MCP server launched in 2026 and works on every plan, Free included, with ChatGPT or Claude. It can't edit funnels yet, has no OAuth, and its keys last at most 90 days.

Is Systeme.io better than ClickFunnels?

On price and capacity, yes: Systeme.io Unlimited at $97 has no contact cap, while ClickFunnels Launch at $97 stops at 10,000 contacts. ClickFunnels wins on refunds, team seats and API access. Our ClickFunnels vs Systeme.io comparison goes plan by plan.

The bottom line

Our verdict: Systeme.io is the cheapest serious way to run funnels, email and courses from one account, as long as you treat its terms as part of the product.

  • Start on Free. It costs nothing and needs no card.
  • Upgrade only when a cap actually blocks you, because paid plans can’t be refunded.
  • Go annual only if you also want the free migration.
  • Move to ClickFunnels only if you need a refund window, team seats or the full API.

Export your contacts regularly, warm up imported lists, and keep a backup sender for launch week. Those habits deal with the email and lock-in complaints above. For the rest, read the terms before you pay.
